M/V Nordic Crystal launched

On Friday April 22, the multi-purpose dry cargo vessel Nordic Crystal was launched on site at the yard in Leer, Germany. The naming ceremony was performed by Godmother Helena Bäckström in a festive setting with guests from near and far celebrating the first launching in two years, after the corona restrictions have been lifted.

Nordic Crystal and her sister vessel (due for delivery next year) are both a further evolvement of Erik Thun’s existing fleet. Focus on efficiency, environmental care and customers’ needs has been essential when developing the new vessels. Reduced fuel consumption, an increased cargo intake, less exhaust emissions and lowered noise levels are a few examples of their trademarks. Nordic Crystal is the 40th vessel built together with Ferus Smit B.V. and she will be delivered in the end of May 2022.

Erik Thun orders new climate friendly tanker

Erik Thun has signed a contract for a new dual-fuel tanker. Upon delivery, the vessel will become number ten in the “Vinga series” of globally top-performing sister vessels when it comes to energy efficiency and reduced climate footprint.

She is the latest contribution to nine previous sister vessels, all trading within the Gothia Tanker Alliance. All sisters are designed with special focus on minimal impact on the environment. Erik Thun’s close partner Furetank will technically and commercially manage the new vessel and upon delivery in 2024, the vessel will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.
