Head of Digitalization at Erik Thun AB

Take the helm as Head of Digitalization! Drive strategy, AI, and data-driven development in a business-critical role with significant influence.

We are looking for a Head of Digitalization who wants to take full ownership of our digital development and help drive the company forward. This is a business-oriented role focused on creating tangible value.

You will join at a stage where much is already in place, but where we now need to become more structured, more data-driven, and better at prioritizing the right initiatives. There are great opportunities to influence, shape, and make a real impact—especially within areas such as AI and cybersecurity, where we see strong development potential.

Your Role

As Head of Digitalization, you will work across a broad scope—from strategy to execution. You are expected to define direction and strategy, while also ensuring that initiatives are implemented and deliver results.

A key part of your role will be understanding the business and translating needs into concrete initiatives. You will work closely with management and operations, connecting these areas and ensuring that digital initiatives are anchored and executed throughout the organization.

You will, among other things:

  • Define and drive our digitalization strategy with a strong business focus
  • Prioritize initiatives that deliver the greatest impact, both short- and long-term
  • Identify and realize opportunities within AI to streamline processes and enhance decision-making
  • Lead projects that improve processes and ways of working across the organization and onboard our vessels
  • Contribute to our BI efforts and develop how we work with reporting and KPIs
  • Be responsible for our overall system landscape and integrations
  • Ensure a high level of information and cybersecurity, including implementing relevant frameworks such as NIS2 in a business-oriented and practical way
  • Manage and lead our IT resources
  • Collaborate with subsidiaries and external partners
  • Drive change management and ensure that new ways of working are successfully implemented

The role also involves close collaboration across the organization, where you actively contribute to improving efficiency and ways of working.

You will be part of the extended management team and play a key role in shaping the overall direction of the company. The role also has an international dimension, including collaboration with colleagues in, for example, the Netherlands.

Who You Are

You thrive at the intersection of business and technology. You have sufficient technical understanding to make well-informed decisions, set requirements, and see the bigger picture.

You have experience working with digitalization, IT, or business development and are used to driving initiatives that involve multiple parts of an organization.

To succeed in this role, we believe you:

  • Have experience driving digitalization and business development
  • Are used to leading projects or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Have a strong business mindset and prioritize operational needs
  • Have experience with data-driven work, BI, and AI
  • Have an understanding of information and cybersecurity
  • Understand systems, integrations, and data flows
  • Hold a relevant academic degree

It is considered a plus if you have experience from industry, logistics, or other operational environments, as well as participation in larger transformation or implementation projects. Experience working with regulatory requirements in IT and cybersecurity, such as NIS2, is also an advantage.

As a Person, You Are:
  • Strategic, yet hands-on and execution-oriented
  • Communicative and skilled at bringing others along
  • Structured and solution-oriented
  • Independent and proactive
  • Positive, social, and confident in building relationships

"I’m 62 and still love what I do
- not many can say that."

Even though Erik Thun Group is a large company, it feels small-scale – familiar, helpful, and loyal. Being captain feels like running your own little company at sea, and when you go home, you can truly disconnect.

We are guided by values of being long-term, responsible, and committed—principles that shape every vessel we launch and every partnership we build.
